Pastor Alex Chartier
Pastor Alex was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. He attended college at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI, where he played football and tennis while there. Following that, he attended seminary at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. In 1991, he began his parish ministry at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Beckley, WV, where he served for nearly 4 years. It was during that time he met his wife Billie and they were married in 1994. Shortly after that, in February of 1995, Pastor Alex went to prison . . . and began his work in specialized ministry with the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. He served with them for nearly 22 years beginning as a Staff Chaplain and eventually becoming a Supervisory Chaplain, first in Estill, SC, and then in Edgefield, SC.
Following retirement from the BOP in December of 2016, Pastor Alex took a brief respite then returned to parish ministry in February of 2017. He began his service here at Holy Trinity Lutheran as interim Pastor while the congregation was searching for a new permanent Pastor. In September of 2017 Holy Trinity extended the permanent call to Pastor Alex and he has been here ever since.
Pastor Alex and his wife Billie have been married for 25 years and have 3 daughters, Audrey (who has since gone on to be with the Lord), Emma, and Mayson. Pastor’s hobbies include strength training, jogging, playing guitar, and road cycling (he’s actually a little crazy about the road cycling).

Lyn M. Patterson, BA, BA, MACM

A Columbus, OH native, I have also lived in Oak Harbor, WA; San Diego, CA; London, England (10.5 years); Stuttgart, Germany, Chula Vista, CA and I moved to Aiken, SC in 2008 and built my home. (Why Aiken? My sister, my only sibling, lives in Aiken and we live on the same street!)
Because I enjoy going to school and learning, the result has been two undergraduate degrees–one in Psychology from Capital University in Columbus, OH and the second in Organ Performance and Church Music from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. In 2014 I graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus with the Master of Arts in Church Music degree as an organ major.
Like many organists, I started my early keyboard life on the piano, but the organ has been my great passion since my early teens. In addition to my university organ studies, I have studied privately wherever I have lived to include the Pacific Northwest, Germany, and London.
A love of travel captured me early in life and I pursue it whenever possible. Other unexpected facts about me are: I taught Basic Music Literature at Skagit Valley College for five years; during my time in London I played the organ for five years for the monthly service of the Swahili speaking Lutheran congregation and worked at the U.S. Embassy; I love to sing; my personal piano is a restored 1909 Chappell grand that I brought home from London; I always drive a car with a manual transmission; and the Lhasa Apso is my favorite dog breed. I’ve enjoyed 39 years of their companionship and love! The current girl, Xantha Star, is a music lover and lies under or next to the piano when I play at home.
After working full time in Church Music for many years, I decided not to retire, but to do an “Allargando” — a musical term meaning a slowing down and becoming more majestic and grand. My musical service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church began on May 1, 2026 and I am delighted to be here! Soli Deo Gloria!
Eden Weidman

Eden Weidman is honored to join Holy Trinity Lutheran Church as their secretary! Born and raised in North Augusta, she left South Carolina’s Riverfront to study English and Political Science at Lander University. Although her intentions was to go into the legal field, life had other plans in terms of career paths: a data intern at a university, a customer intern at a publishing company, and a data entry clerk at a logistics company. Throughout these jobs, she carried the same goal – to use her skills to help people.
Outside of the church setting, she lives with her mother and grandmother as an informal caregiver. Her hobbies include walking, reading, listening to music, and trying new recipes.
